This house, even though architecturally designed in the 1960’s, looked tired, weathered and neglected. The spaces internally were no longer suitable or useable for today’s lifestyle and were screaming for a major transformation. The house had the basic room requirements, Kitchen, Meals, Laundry, Bathroom three Bedrooms plus a Master bedroom with its Ensuite. The concrete slab floor and double brick external walls with incredible solidness and structural integrity gave a positive construction start.

Together with the AMINE CONSTRUCTIONS Design team, particular attention was paid in designing an open and functional layout that would accommodate the client’s modern and busy lifestyle. The ground floor layout needed major reconfiguring and upgrading to all the major rooms, enlarging the small bedrooms, transforming the master bedroom into a Media/Theatre room and upgrading the central courtyard. Openings in double brick walls were formed and external windows and doors were, removed, replaced or added. Existing bathroom, laundry and ensuite were stripped bare and replaced with fixtures and fittings that were both beautifully designed and purposely functional.

Upstairs, an additional Second Storey was proposed increasing the existing home by a significant 63m2. The new level includes a spacious new master bedroom, a well-appointed ensuite and huge walk-in-robe. The result was a purpose designed functional space that combined both practical usability of floor area with a beautiful internal look and feel. Hand crafted with Victorian Ash timbers and contemporary stainless steel handrails, a modern open staircase was carefully designed to maximise the building functionality, while seamlessly connecting the ground and first floors.

The completed renovation has achieved the high standard required for a minimal design aesthetic and proved to be a robust and functional house for contemporary living.
